Tooth Whitening
Enhance your smile with our teeth whitening solutions
Safe, simple and cost-effective whitening
Tooth whitening is a safe, simple and cost-effective procedure to help enhance the appearance of your teeth.
Chances are you’ve been inundated with whitening options from toothpastes and over-the-counter treatments that under-deliver to professional in-surgery whitening.
Because every smile is unique we work tirelessly to find the safest, most reliable and effective teeth-whitening solutions for our patients – giving you the confidence in both your smile and the systems used to perfect it.
Teeth whitening involves the process of removing stains and tackling discolouration, by placing a peroxide gel or paste onto the surface of your teeth. Its molecules interact with any stains and breaks them down to reveal a beautiful, pearly white smile.
We use premium whitening brands Enlighten Whitening and White Dental Beauty to help you achieve a brighter smile. Both systems involve the use of an at-home kit with custom-made trays as well as in-practice treatment to deliver stunning results in as little as two weeks.
Frequently asked questions
How does tooth whitening treatment work?
After an initial examination we’ll take a digital impression of your teeth so that we can create a bespoke bleaching tray for you. You’ll return to Dental House to collect your trays along with your whitening gels. We’ll show you how to safely and effectively use your trays with the gel so that you can feel confident in wearing your trays at home.If you choose to have the Enlighten whitening, your final appointment at Dental House will include an hour long in-surgery treatment to boost your whitening shade and ensure your whitening looks natural and lasts longer.
Is teeth whitening painful?
Your teeth and gums may become sensitive during whitening treatment. At Dental House we will always ensure you are using the right concentration levels of your whitening formula. With all our professional teeth whitening systems we offer a desensitising gel or toothpaste to help minimise sensitivity.
How long will my whitening results last?
Unfortunately, teeth whitening doesn’t last forever. With our treatment we help bring them back to life by removing and surface staining and lightening the teeth. Over time though your teeth will begin to darken as they collect stains. We always encourage our patients who undergo whitening to avoid foods and drinks that cause stains such as tea, coffee and spicy foods whilst whitening. To keep a gleaming white smile for as long as possible patients should maintain a good oral hygiene regime and freely purchase top-up gels from the practice. A top-up routine of wearing the gels for 1-2 nights every six months should ensure they look their sparkly best.
Do I have to visit the dentist for teeth whitening?
To ensure optimum safety and results, professional teeth whitening should only be offered or performed by a registered dental professional. Legally, they are the only profession who can use a strength of product up to 6% hydrogen peroxide.
Over-the-counter tooth whitening products and kits can legally only contain up to 0.1% hydrogen peroxide – a concentration which is too low to have any noticeable effect on the colour of the teeth.
