Have you been living with painful, loose or uncomfortable dentures, but feel embarrassed about seeking help? Or are you missing teeth and looking for a solution?
Transitioning to a life with dentures isn’t always easy for many, but here at Dental House in Sunbury-on-Thames we’re not here to focus on the problems, our expert team are on hand to provide you with a solution that will help you feel comfortable and look great too.
We asked our in-house dental experts what the five biggest denture complaints were and how can we help – and here’s what they said…
They don’t fit properly
When your dentures are made, an impression is taken for a close fit. If it is made inaccurately, it can shift around in your mouth causing soreness, swelling and sometimes pain. Here at Dental House, we will ensure that the denture fits properly, rests comfortably against the gums and won’t slide around. With our team of dentists, CDTs and technicians, we can make adjustments and modify your denture in-house to make sure it fits like a glove.
They don’t look like normal teeth
Sometimes dentures are too white or the wrong shape and/or size. This can create an unnatural looking denture. Our Surrey dental practice will ensure that your dentures are natural looking that match the rest of your teeth to give you a radiant smile.
I won’t be able to eat properly
When you first get your dentures, it may take a little time for your mouth to get used to them. Start off with eating soft foods such as yoghurt or eggs (and no toffees!). After a short period of time, you will get used to them and you’ll be able to eat and chew normally and comfortably again.
I’ll have difficulty speaking
When you are first fitted with dentures, it may feel unusual and your speech may be affected, or you may find it difficult to pronounce certain words. Rest assured, this is perfectly normal and with time and practise, your mouth will adapt and adjust, which will result in your speech returning to normal. We advise to continue to speak as usual to speed up the adjustment process.
Dentures can make you look old
The older types of dentures can make you look old because they may not fit properly and can cause wrinkles around the mouth. However, with advancements in dental technology and our in-house dental experts, we can make sure they fit properly and support facial tissues to limit sagging and premature aging. Our in-house dentists and CDTs can make adjustments to make them look natural and actually make you appear younger.
Correctly fitting dentures can help improve your quality of life, make you feel more confident, restore your speech and are a cost-effective solution to missing teeth. As one of the leading dental practices in Surrey, with an onsite dental laboratory, we can provide you with a realistic set of either partial or full dentures that will remain trouble-free and remain securely in place.
Rest assured, we have an array of solutions to replace missing teeth, including dental implants, bridges and dentures, to help make your ‘new’ teeth look and function like your natural teeth. A thorough examination and consultation with our highly skilled dentists and CDTs will help us determine which solution is right for you.
