We know that during these uncertain times, our Sunbury-on-Thames community might feel apprehensive or confused as to whether visiting the dentist is the safest thing to do amidst lockdown rules. Although this decision is entirely personal, we are confident in the health and safety protocols that we are strictly adhering to; we want to reassure you that the chances of contracting the coronavirus when visiting your Sunbury dentist are very low.

What changes have been made to safety protocols?

At Dental House, we have implemented strict prevention and safety protocols which work to radically reduce the chance of contamination and ensures the risk of catching COVID-19 at our practice is minimal. Our team are equipped with full PPE (personal protective equipment) that shield both the staff member and the patient from exchanging germs even when in close contact at the dentist’s chair. We regularly and meticulously disinfect the reception area and all of our surgery rooms before and after each patient’s visit, to reduce the risk of exposure to any harmful bacteria. We only allow one patient into the practice at a time to limit foot traffic and avoid overcrowding, allowing our patients to maintain a healthy social distance.

It’s also important to understand that as a profession, we have been adhering to infection control procedures and well-regulated guidelines, such as HTM-01-05, for decades. Maintaining a safe clinical environment for our patients and staff alike is not new to us and we are well poised to continue to do so.

Is it safe to see a dentist for a routine check-ups or dental emergencies?

It is important to keep attending your routine dental check-ups and hygiene appointments to ensure that there are no problems developing in your oral health. Your overall health is a priority to our team and so the routine and emergency dental care you’ll receive at Dental House is very safe. Rest assured, dentistry has been deemed an essential service by the Government so if you’re in severe pain, don’t feel like you have to suffer at home.
